NautoPilot 5000 NX is the advanced Anschütz autopilot for ships. It features well-known, unique Anschütz algorithms for automatic steering that ensure highly precise steering performance whenever it is needed, even at low speeds.
In addition, NautoPilot 5000 NX includes the world's most comprehensive range of fuel-saving features that reduce emissions and cost. Reduced fuel consumption also improves the Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) rating of the respective ship
Course control
In course control mode, NautoPilot 5000 NX steers the vessel on a course-over-ground line and automatically compensates for drift deviations. Accordingly, the travelled distance between two points is reduced to a minimum, thereby also reducing fuel consumption. Continuous heading adjustments lead to smaller rudder angles and less speed loss compared to manual operation
Heading & rudder plot
Increased rudder activity also increases fuel consumption and costs. The heading & rudder plot provides an instant, transparent overview of heading, set heading and rudder activity. This allows the bridge team to monitor the steering performance and adjust and optimise the autopilot settings to minimise rudder activity.
ECOnomy mode (adaptive mode)
In ECO mode, the NautoPilot 5000 NX smartly and permanently monitors the actual yawing movements of the vessel depending on load and sea conditions. Symmetrical movements as well as movements connected to the inertial behaviour of the ship are filtered out and not corrected by the autopilot. The result: permanent fuel savings through less rudder activity at the push of a button.
Toe angle (dual rudder vessels)
With toe angle, NautoPilot 5000 NX enables dual rudder vessels to save fuel. The steering characteristics and energy efficiency are optimised with an offset (toe angle) of the rudders. Test runs with real installations have proven significant fuel savings when the toe angle is set optimally considering speed and draught.
Track control system
In combination with electronic chart display and information systems of various makers (including Anschütz ECDIS NX), NautoPilot NX is type-approved as part of a highly precise track control system.
7” touch display
Thanks to the large graphical touch display, crews can rely on intuitive autopilot operation and full fingertip control. A clear indication of navigational information and operation modes as well as user adjustable limits for permanent sensor and performance monitoring support safe steering in any situation. Autopilot settings and parameters are a maximum of one tab away.
Installation and integration
NautoPilot 5000 NX is easy to integrate in newbuild or refit projects.
The best way is to combine NautoPilot 5000 NX with a NautoSteer AS steering gear control system by using the redundant CAN bus without requiring a separate interface unit. For use in combination with other steering gear control systems or in refits, an autopilot interface unit is available. This unit provides a multitude of interfaces to the steering gear control system or to the steering gear directly. NautoPilot 5000 NX stand-alone installations can be extended with additional remote operator units or with tillers/handwheels to form a compact steering control system.
